KUALA LUMPUR (May 26): The recent Malaysian e-Payments Excellence Awards 2017 saw the emergence of many deserving award winners whose achievements, innovation and commitment to excellence have raised the bar on e-payment services, elevated customer experience and pushed the boundaries of innovation.
The event was organised by Malaysian Electronic Clearing Corp Sdn Bhd (MyClear), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), on May 22.
In a statement, MyClear said the Malaysian e-payments Excellence Awards is an annual event that recognises the outstanding achievements of banks, businesses and government agencies that have contributed significantly towards excellence, innovation and growth in e-payments.
Awards are given to banks, businesses and government agencies based on their achievements in six key areas namely Interbank GIRO (IBG), financial process exchange (FPX), direct debit, JomPAY, MyDebit and Instant Transfer (IBFT).
This year, the grand award for "Best e-Payments Bank" went to Public Bank Bhd. The bank also took home the Best e-Payments and Outstanding Contribution to FPX awards.
Other big winners was CIMB Group Holdings Bhd, which won the Best IBG Bank, Best JomPAY Bank, JomPAY Innovation Award, FPX Innovation Award, Best Customer Experience for JomPAY Bank awards. Malayan Banking Bhd was named Top FPX Acquirer (Bank) and Best Customer Experience for FPX.
“The Malaysia e-Payments Excellence Awards inspire and motivate banks, businesses and government agences to continously strive for excellence and raise the standards of e-Payment services for the benefit of all in Malaysia” said MyClear Managing Director Peter Schiesser.
The guest-of-honour during the event was BNM Governor Datuk Muhammad Ibrahim. Other attendees included MyClear chairman Datuk Seri Dr Halim Shafie, CEOs of 35 banks in Malaysia, as well as senior leaders of government agencies and businesses.
