Kuala Lumpur, 4 January 2013 – Malaysian Electronic Clearing Corporation Sdn. Bhd. (MyClear), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bank Negara Malaysia, has named Peter Schiesser as its new Managing Director.
Mr Schiesser spent most of his career with the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) where he held various key positions and established an impressive track record across a variety of disciplines including strategy & planning, product & business development, consumer finance, card services, electronic banking, payment systems, information technology and banking operations.
Prior to joining MyClear, Mr Schiesser served in a General Management capacity with Sacombank, one of the leading banks in Vietnam, where he was instrumental in transforming their Cards Division into a modern and profitable business. Subsequently, as Chief Information Officer, he drove the strategic transformation of IT in support of the bank’s ambitious growth objectives.
MyClear Chairman Dato’ Ooi Sang Kuang said “Mr Schiesser has extensive experience in banking, information technology and payment systems as well as a proven track record of delivering outstanding business results. We are confident he has the vision and capabilities to lead MyClear and accelerate the adoption of e-Payments in Malaysia.”
Speaking about his new role, Mr Schiesser said “Malaysia is moving into a new era where technological advancements will offer more convenient, secure and cost-effective means for making payments and moving funds compared to traditional paper-based means such as cash and cheques. Increasing the adoption of e-Payments is essential to improve the nation’s efficiency and competiveness and to support the continued development of the economy.
